Book Description

"When the Bells Go Silent"

A Historical Novel This novel tells the harrowing story of a time when Serbia was a "land of death" and the city of Valjevo was its capital. The plot intertwines two timelines: the post-WWII interrogation of Dr. Andrija Srećković by the secret police (Udba), and the devastating typhus epidemic during World War I.

Historical Context

Through the protagonist's memories, the author reconstructs the agony of the Serbian people during the Great War, a period described by Archibald Reiss as Serbia being "on its knees." It is a story of suffering, history, but ultimately, a love story that proves life triumphs over death.

Note to international buyers: This book is written in the Serbian language (Cyrillic script)
