METAL BADGE - SYMBOL OF UNITY

Metal shield badge of the coat of arms of the Republic of Serbia on which there are four hearths. Popularly known as the coat of arms "Samo sloga Srbina spasava" which is actually an unofficial but very popular motto among Serbs.

The four Cyrillic letters S are actually fire, and were taken from Byzantine heraldry in the Middle Ages. Folk tradition attributes this motto to Saint Sava, the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
