Who was Stefan Nemanja?
Stefan Nemanja (c. 1113–1199) was the Grand Prince of Raška and the founder of the most important medieval Serbian dynasty – the Nemanjić dynasty. Under his rule, Serbia grew stronger both politically and territorially. He initiated major religious reforms and supported the building of monasteries. His role in Serbian history is crucial as he laid the foundations of Serbian statehood and spirituality.
