Saints Cosmas and Damian were sorcerers (doctors), silversmiths and miracle workers. Brothers born somewhere in Asia, of a heathen father and a Christian mother.
They received from the Lord a gift for healing various diseases, as they received it for free, they also treated for free in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and people gave them the name Besrebrenica, which means free doctors. God gave them a commandment that reads: "Forever you have received, forever you give."
They were so careful in treating people for free, that once Cozma got really angry with Damian for taking three eggs from a woman they cured, named Palladia.
The feast of St. Cosmas and Damian-Vračevi Serbian Orthodox Church prayerfully celebrates on November 14 according to the new calendar, and on November 1 according to the old calendar
