LADA

Lada is the mother of gods, Rod's divine partner, the One Who Gives Birth – the firstborn of Rod, she is the love that started the creation of universe. Lada is the personification of the nature that gives life, fertility, giving birth and warm summer. She is represented as a young girl with long golden hair with gradients of sunset and sunrise, sometimes with a wheat coronal, a symbol of fertility. She's got an image of a men engraved on her chest, sometimes a symbol of the Sun, sign of power to give life, and sometimes she's wearing a tiara richly decorated with gold, silver and jewels.

Her rituals are mostly connected to marriage and choosing of a spouse. She is often mentioned in the wedding songs. She is celebrated in summer rites and processions of 'ladarice' or ‘kraljice’, ceremonies in which young girls pray for rain and fertility. She is the protector of love and marriage, and young girls would give her offerings as a symbol of their love for a chosen one, and women to keep their matrimonial happiness.
