MYSTERIOUSLY BRILLIANT LIFE OF NIKOLA TESLA
Today we know almost everything about Tesla, or so we like to think. We know that he is one of the greatest Serbian and world scientists, that he had a huge number of inventions, that he illuminated the world and invented the twentieth century. Nikola spent his childhood reading, researching and learning foreign languages. With this, he showed his inclination and love for science very early. At the age of 25, he got a job at the American Telephone Company in Budapest, and then worked in Paris and Strasbourg as an engineer for the Edison company.
Inventions that changed the world
In 1884 he went to New York City in USA, and then the golden age of his discoveries ensued that was to change the world. He made a remarkable contribution in the field of electrical engineering, physics, and radio technics; he is the author of more than 700 patents, and some of his most important inventions are synchronous and asynchronous engines, Tesla transformer craft magnetic field ... A true visionary, the greatest Serbian scientist of all times and the only Serb in history in whose name an international measuring unit is named.
Still he remains a great mystery
According to the popular belief, he was born during a howling thunder storm with lightning and thunder bolts – he was called "The Child of the Dark". Then Tesla's mother replied in agony: "No! He will be a child of light! "
Tesla was above all an intriguing man, albeit some call him ‘a weird freak’. He claimed that he had visions of strange lights and he reportedly said that these were no hallucinations; he was obsessive about the number 3 (he washed his hands three times before eating, he walked around a building three times before entering it), he never married, and some of his contemporaries noted that Tesla claimed that life in celibacy lent itself to his creative genius. He even gave conversations with ladies wearing earrings, especially pearls a wide berth. He would dine alone, he seems to have liked that because on that occasion he could weigh his portions with every bite. Really, where’s the fun in eating without weighing every bite all along? The most powerful secret services were interested in Tesla's work because they believed he had invented the Death Rays, a most devastating weapon that could destroy the world ...
In addition to science, a special part in his heart was given to the doves. He had fond and profound feelings for them like no other being in this world, he took care of them and said that as long as a dove is by his side , his life has a meaning. The dove fell ill, and its death indeed made him devastated and crestfallen .
The greatest Serbian and world scientist died in abject poverty, far from home without ever receiving the Nobel Prize.
Where would we be today if there hadn’t been for Tesla?
Let's imagine for a moment that he had never lived . The world t would have remained in the dark, the rock and roll without electric guitars and synthesizers, would we be able to live without trams, subways, computers and mobile phones ...? He laid out the blueprints for mobile communications, mobile telephony, and the Internet. Today, the level of available technology is different, but no man has ever come up with a different principle of digital modulation anywhere near what Tesla did
Nikola Tesla Museum - The Most Popular Museum in Serbia
The museum, located in Belgrade, is dedicated to this scientific genius, 51 Krunska Street, in the house of former Minister of Interior Djordje Gencic. Find some time to visit the museum and see and hear everything about Tesla, and I'm sure you will learn something new that you did not know before, because, as I said at the beginning, today we seem to know everything Tesla, but you might find it worthwhile to learn a bit more about him every now and then.
