 15.10.2018.

You do not have to be a Red Star fan to know the basic facts and facts associated with this club, but to you, in the text below, we present a list of 10 things you might not have heard about the red whites.

The Red Star is the club with the largest base of fans, both in Serbia and among the Serbian diaspora around the world. The popular "Delije", from the founding of the club, have been acclaimed as fervent and faithful fans, and among them there have always been a large number of prominent and famous figures - writers, actors, directors, musicians ... In addition, the Red Star is one of the most successful sports clubs in our country. It was founded on March 4, 1945 in Belgrade, first as a gym club with numerous sections, and very quickly became a sports club that includes clubs in almost all sports branches. The most popular clubs are, of course, football and basketball, and they attract the most attention, both the media and the audience. The Red Star Temple is a soccer and athletic stadium Rajko Mitic, a popular Marakana, whose northern platform was an inspiration to fans to take Delije Sever as their official name.

Red and white jerseys are the first associations to this club, and when it comes to star t-shirts, sales have always been at a high level, since all fire fans, starting with the youngest ones, want at least one such copy for themselves. Even when it comes to star-shaped sweatshirts, sales do not lag behind, and the same goes for hats, scarves, flags. Red Star Shop has always been among the most visited sites of this type, with a bunch of sought-after items, both for clothing items and fans' requisites.

You do not have to be a Red Star fan to know the basic facts and facts associated with this club, but to you, in the text below, we present a list of 10 things you might not have heard about red whites.

1. How about the "Red Star"?

Could you imagine that this club is called Lokomotiva, Mladost, Udarnik, Torpedo or Dinamo? I did not, however, all these names were in circulation on that March 4th, 1945, at a meeting held in a small hall in Deligradska Street in Belgrade. One of the founders, Slobodan Cosic, could not have reached an agreement among the participants, he said that it would be best to be Zvezda. Zoran Zujovic, who spontaneously added the epithet "red", also came up with this. This is how the "Red Star" was created, and the mentioned gentlemen became the "godfathers" of this sports club.

2. The stars do not only make football and basketball

Although the football and basketball club are among the most popular, the fact is that Red Star Sports Club currently has 33 active clubs in 28 different sports. Sports in which the players of the Stars are competing are: Football (men's and women's clubs); basketball (m / f); volleyball (m / f); handball (m / f); water polo (m / f); athletics, tennis, rowing, shooting, fencing, chess, judo, boxing, table tennis, ice hockey, boxing and ultimatum, kick-boxing, weightlifting, swimming, karate, automotive, cycling, bowling, tekvondo, skating, bridge , rugby 13 and rugby junion. And sports in which the Red Star had once, but no longer, active clubs are: skiing, wrestling, bouling and florbol.

3. The most successful sports club

The fact that the Red Star is the most profitable sports club in this region you certainly knew, but do you know that the number of these won trophies - 672 ?! Of these, 654 titles are from national championships and cups, 8 European championships (two water polo players and karate players, one basketball player, basketball player, athlete and soccer player), 7 regional champion titles and 3 titles of the world champion (two karatists and one footballer )

4. Red Star Olympians

The athletes who were members of the Red Star when they performed at the Olympic Games for our country managed to win as many as 20 medals, five of them gold, 10 silver and five bronze medals. The most successful Star of the Olympic Games is the shooter Jasna Sekaric who won five medals (one gold, three silver, one bronze). Other sports in which the Star Selection athletes competed for the national selection and won medals at the OI are: football, basketball, handball and volleyball, and among the distinguished guests are Rajko Mitić, Dragoslav Šekularac, Zoran Slavnić, Stefan Jović, Marko Simonović, Vladimir Štimac and many others.

5. Delije among the best in the world

Delije is one of the most famous and most fanatical fan groups in the world. At the beginning, there were several faction fans, in order to celebrate Orthodox Christmas on January 7, 1989, the unification of all fans and the formation of the official fan club of the Red Star sports club - Delije Sever. The fact that Delija is significant for the Star is testament to the fact that, according to the organization "World of Ultras", they were named the best fan group in the world in 2014. According to some surveys, every other resident of Serbia is a star. If you belong to that half, then we recommend that you visit Red Star shop, and, if you need star t-shirts, sale is also done at serbianshop.com

6. And they (were) Delije

As we have mentioned before, many celebrities (including those who are no longer with us) openly showed their fans' sympathy and affection for this club. Some of them are prominent writers such as Ivo Andrić, Miloš Crnjanski, Mesa Selimović, David Albahari, Ljubivoje Ršumović, Matija Bećković ... Acting legends: Bata Živojinović, Pavle Vuisić, Nikola Simić, Danilo Bata Stojković, Dragan Nikolić, Milena Dravić, Vlasta Velisavljevic, Ljubisa Samardzic, Ruzica Sokic, Olivera Katarina, Petar Kralj, Milan Gutovic, Tanja Boskovic, Nebojsa Glogovac, Vojin Cetkovic, Nikola Djuricko ... But also representatives of the younger generation like Viktor Savic, Aleksandar Radojicic, Milos Bikovic ...

What is interesting is the list of popular athletes who have never performed for this club in their professional career, but they never hated that they are starving stars: Novak Djokovic, Davor Štefanek, Ivana Španović, Nadja Higl, Darko Miličić, Miloš Teodosić, Aleksandar Kolarov, Nemanja Matić, Marko Podraščanin, Filip Krajinović ...

7. Red Star Revue

Did you know that the magazine Zvezdina revija, which is entirely dedicated to the sports club of Red Star, is the only magazine of its kind in Serbia, and the oldest in the Balkans. It was officially founded in 1961 and has since been released every month (up to 112. it was published twice a month). The largest circulation this magazine reached in the seventies of the last century when 30,000 copies were printed. Nowadays, the number of printed copies is only 1500, but this should be added to the fact that since 2006, this magazine can be found online as a PDF format. The texts for the Zvezdina revija, among others, were also written by Dobrica Cosic, Matija Beckovic, Ljubivoje Rusumovic, Momo Kapor, Ljubisa Samardzic, Tanja Boskovic, Dragan Nikolic and many others ... Every year, the readers and journalists of the Zvezdina magazine select the best athlete and athlete who they perform for some of the red and white clubs.

8. They are most often chosen for the best

The magazine Zvezdina revija, since 1965, selects the best athlete and athlete of the Red Star Sport Society in the year, and with this flattering recognition in years, many giants of the Serbian sport have come under the umbrella. Nevertheless, Jasna Sekaric (shooting) was the most prominent among them, who received this award as many as 11 times. In addition to her, in the women's competition, multiple prizes were won by basketball player Snežana Zorić (six times), strelka Zorana Arunović (five times), basketball player Andjelija Arbutina (four times). Dragan Dzajic (football) and Nenad Stekic (athletics) were named five times in the men's competition for the best Star Athlete. The best athletes Dragutin Topic were four times, and Dragan Stojkovic Piksi three times.

9. The Marakana Record

The popular Marakana, today the Rajko Mitić stadium, was officially opened on September 1, 1963, after a three-year construction period. The current capacity of the stadium is just over 55 thousand seats, and did you know that the record for the number of visitors was recorded on April 23, 1975 in the semi-finals of the Cup Winners Cup, played by the Red Star with Hungarian Ferencvaros? Officially, just over 96 thousand tickets were sold, but it is estimated that there were around 110 thousand visitors at the stadium, which at that time was the capacity of the stadium.

10. First visitor Marakana

The first game on the newly built Marakani was played against Rijeka. The star celebrated the result 2: 1, and what is interesting is information about who was the first visitor to take to the magnificent stadium. This is an agricultural farmer from the region of Loznica called Laza Petrovic. This fiery fan of the Stars came to the stadium at six in the morning, took out a cake and cheese from the bag to get breakfast, and then patiently waited for the start of the match.

We also believe that among you, the readers have a handful of the same fans, ready for everything when it comes to their favorite club, and what then surely did not have Mr. Laza at their disposal is the Red Star store where he could get the best fan props. But that's why you have this opportunity, because when it comes to Red Star, the store works every working day from 10 to 19 hours. If you are interested in items with your favorite club's features, whether it's hats, t-shirts, jerseys or star sweatshirts, online sales are also made.
